A White Christmas!

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

While I miss the snow terribly here in Singapore around the holidays, I still love the look of a white Christmas! Wishing everyone a day filled with family and friends and lots of love! Missing all our family back in the States, but so grateful for my amazing husband and wonderful friends here in Asia.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everyone!

Love or Loathe: Vintage Portaits

Friday, December 21, 2012

Call me odd, but I love painted portraits, even I don't know who they are of! If you have have a family heirloom or two all the better, but either way I adore the history and personal touch these painted likenesses bring. I especially like them in a grouping and when contrasted with a more modern interior. Vintage portraits can be great flea market and garage sale finds as well so keep your eyes open!

What is your vote. . .  do you love or loathe this look?

Chic + Festive Holiday Decor!

Thursday, December 20, 2012

I adore holiday decorations! But so often they can look tacky or dated, so I was thrilled to help when The Honeycombers asked me to put together a cheat sheet of modern and fresh holiday decor. Here are my favorite ways to create a home that is both a chic and festive {with not a reindeer in sight!} Even better, these holiday tips work beautifully in the warm weather or cold, which is perfect for life here in Singapore.

Here's wishing you a stylish and joyous holiday season!

Skip the crimson and dark green and opt for brighter primary hues instead! I love this clean, minimal holiday décor and the burst of poppy colors makes it warm and festive.

Here's proof that holiday decorations do not have to look as if they came from a window display. A collected look of mix and matched chairs, photos framing the doorway and a clustered silver light fixture create a casual and welcoming setting perfect for holiday entertaining.

I love this mantle filled with silver, gold, and brass colored shine and a beaded wreath. A lovely but subdued way to infuse holiday style.

The Ever-Changing Taylor B. Singapore!

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

One of the best things about visiting Taylor B. is their ever-changing array of furniture and accessories - no two visits are ever the same! I love to mix styles and layer pieces from lots of different eras and places so their eclectic selection is really fantastic. Here are my top 5 picks of the moment . . .

#1 // I love this antiqued French inspired mirror, the patina of the mirror frame gives it such a soft and elegant look! {those ice blue chairs are also so beautiful!}

#2 // I am crazy for all things emerald and this antique chinese console is the perfect hue of rich green! Plus all the doors and drawers make for great storage, I would love this piece as my tv console!

#3 // This Andrew Martin suzani upholstered chair brings a wonderful burst of energy and color! I would love to pair it with an ivory linen sofa in the living room or use it in the corner of a bedroom.

#4 // I adore round dining tables {so wonderful for conversation} and this one is really lovely. I especially like the balance of the pale oak top with the painted cream base.

#4 // I saved my absolute favorite for last, I love this large scale botanical painting. The color palette of watery purples, pale green, ivory and rich forest green is so pretty and I know I would never get tired of living with it!

Do you have any favorite pieces?

Inspiration Images: Holiday Tabletop

Monday, December 3, 2012

My absolute favorite thing about the holiday season is all of the festive parties and entertaining! There is just something so cozy and cheerful about holiday parties and its a fantastic excuse to create a beautiful table. The table tops I love the most are the ones that don't look too precious or styled - but rather natural, warm and layered. Here are few of my favorite inspirations. . . .
Are you planning any holiday get togethers?
